a lot has been going on lately
It has not been the best of Octobers but I'm trying to squeeze as much goodness as I can out of it in this last week that remains.
Here are some photos from 10/24 on our trip to Busch Gardens.







We didn't stay all weekend this year due to financial problems but it was still an okay trip.  I'm glad I got to see friends I hadn't seen in awhile.

Alex and I traveled down to Dismal Swamp State Park just over the NC state one day and discovered a beautiful area.  We went kayaking which was so much fun, and found a fortress of solitude in the woods.  The park is situated on an old distillery so there are still remnants of vines and fruits.  It is heavy with brush so some parts of the trail we walked were reminiscent of a fairy tale forest.





We went to Hunt Club Farm in Virginia Beach at the beginning of the month and found some pumpkins!  This big one weighs 32 pounds!

 The weather is changing, but I have doubts that it will stay. With climate change, the earth is warming.  Hot temperature last longer into the autumn,  and leaves keep their chlorophyll shade until November. Gone seem to be the chilly, golden days of September.  But today, it is cool, and I am basking in this small promise of autumn. We are still enduring the covid-19 pandemic. I'm not sure how this will impact my favorite time and seasons, but I don't think we'll be seeing much of family this year.  I can't help but think of those who are aging and how terrible it must be to be quarantined, living your last year or two inside and away from loved ones. Of course, there are a lot of young people (and older, really) who are either pretending they don't believe in it, actually don't believe in it (I don't know how you can just not "believe in" a fucking disease but, you know), or just don't think it's a big enough deal to follow scientific ad...

Echoes

So we adopted a kitty! Coincidentally, on our two year anniversary :) His name his Echo, he's a 12 year old exotic short hair whose owner and kitty companion both passed away.  I was certain that someone had already filled out an application for this cat when I met him Wednesday evening, but the woman at the SPCA told me otherwise when she called the next day to inform me that we had been approved.  He is such a goofball, he already rules the roost and has made himself at home. yes, our anniversary! So, we both had to work on the 14th but today we are going to Charlottesville to celebrate.  We'll be going to see Bella Morte at the Jefferson Theatre and somewhere for dinner beforehand. I'm excited to see what the future holds for us.  We've had some ups and downs, as does every couple, but I love this guy and he makes me feel loved and appreciated. I can't see my life with anyone else by my side.
