 well the first day of the year was mostly successful.

I didn't buy anything that wasn't necessary and I did spend a lot more time away from my computer...reading, putting laundry away, etc.

Woo! I also stayed off facebook.  I've logged out on both my computer and phone to lessen the temptation.  I catch myself opening facebook in a new tab and I'm like wait, no.

The weather has been insane. It was 76 inside last night and we were roasting.  It's been raining heavily which I'm okay with, and then tomorrow it's supposed to be down in the forties and snow! After being in the 70s all weekend. 

I will welcome the snow with open arms and snow boots though.  Hoping for a four day weekend?

and some winter weather!


oh, and I made this yesterday with a stick I've been drying out for months, and some of my dried roses!

 The weather is changing, but I have doubts that it will stay. With climate change, the earth is warming.  Hot temperature last longer into the autumn,  and leaves keep their chlorophyll shade until November. Gone seem to be the chilly, golden days of September.  But today, it is cool, and I am basking in this small promise of autumn. We are still enduring the covid-19 pandemic. I'm not sure how this will impact my favorite time and seasons, but I don't think we'll be seeing much of family this year.  I can't help but think of those who are aging and how terrible it must be to be quarantined, living your last year or two inside and away from loved ones. Of course, there are a lot of young people (and older, really) who are either pretending they don't believe in it, actually don't believe in it (I don't know how you can just not "believe in" a fucking disease but, you know), or just don't think it's a big enough deal to follow scientific ad...

Echoes

So we adopted a kitty! Coincidentally, on our two year anniversary :) His name his Echo, he's a 12 year old exotic short hair whose owner and kitty companion both passed away.  I was certain that someone had already filled out an application for this cat when I met him Wednesday evening, but the woman at the SPCA told me otherwise when she called the next day to inform me that we had been approved.  He is such a goofball, he already rules the roost and has made himself at home. yes, our anniversary! So, we both had to work on the 14th but today we are going to Charlottesville to celebrate.  We'll be going to see Bella Morte at the Jefferson Theatre and somewhere for dinner beforehand. I'm excited to see what the future holds for us.  We've had some ups and downs, as does every couple, but I love this guy and he makes me feel loved and appreciated. I can't see my life with anyone else by my side.
